These students provide many monetary and social benefits to their host countries. The best and brightest students may want to stay in their host country, because they find more opportunities than back in their home country. As a host nation imports talented individuals, this brings new ideas and new businesses that produce considerable economic benefits to their host. These bright individuals also increase competition for domestic students, which raise the standards in schools.

Students also pay considerable fees for tuition, housing and books, not to mention general living expenses that help support local economies. Tuition fees help increase the revenue for universities, which have a hard time extracting revenue from domestic students.
