Renewable energy could provide higher profit margins and revenue growth. Global initiatives to fight global warming is causing many countries to subsidize and otherwise encourage the growth of renewable energy. The use of wind turbines and other alternative energy sources should allow large diverse companies to benefit greatly from the advance technologies and economies of scale needed to contribute to renewable energy. The generation and distribution of these energy sources will increase revenue and margins for the entire energy industry.
Already, New Jersey is building wind turbines off the coast.

AES: Last year [2007], AES Corporation was one of the fastest growing wind producers in the United States and the company sees significant opportunities for global expansion in China. In fact, nearly 20 percent of the firm’s global portfolio consists of renewable energies like hydro and wind power. Currently, AES has more than 1,000 megawatts of wind power in operation along with another 6,000 of wind projects in various stages of development in quickly growing emerging markets.
