Car manufacturers and aircraft manufacturers are expanding operations in the South East of the United States in an effort to avoid union troubles, which add additional cost and decrease business flexibility. Manufacturers add pressure on existing unionized workers to avoid strikes and wage increases, because there are viable alternatives available for a company. These decrease wages and increase flexibility, which work to increase profits for manufacturing firms.
