Ethanol Description Update
Ethanol is a colorless liquid known mostly for its psychoactive drug properties. Ethanol has been used for hundreds of years by human to create grain alcohol, or drinking alcohol. Alcoholic beverages vary considerably in ethanol content and are measured in alcoholic proof units. Ethanol has many other uses including: fuel, feedstock, a solvent, and antiseptic. Creating fuel is the greatest use of ethanol and E85 fuel sold in the United States contains 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. It is also effective against most fungi, viruses, and bacteria and it the main ingredient in anti-bacterial wipes and gels. Ethanol is also used as a solvent in many personal care products.
