Headquartered out of Stanford, CT, an investment management firm which is privately owned. SAC is another firm founded by Steven A. Cohen and is the successor to his first founded firm. SAC has four different portfolios in which it manages its funds. This firm is constructed around a leading position in long/short equity, as well as important positions in quantitative and other strategies. Preeminently healthcare, high technology, industrials, and retail/consumer goods are the favored industries for the fund. In 2006 SAC controlled 19.5% of stake in Google and the search engine Baidu. The long-short strategies and capital flow make SAC an influential price-setting hedge fund in equities. Alternative investment strategies including private equity and emerging markets through expansion are the branches of SAC.
